Hi.  I’m Monique Slaughter founder and CEO of Michelle Joelle Design. I am also the creator and visual artist for the Mind Garden art series and the Jump Journal.  

I am an artist and writer. So, jumping around while journaling was born from my creative process. My process is never linear. When I write, I write whatever comes to my head and then I come back and put it in place. I may start with doodles and then layer things on when I create art. The final work always assembles all my captured thoughts and expressions. 

I’m not looking for a journal revolution.  I want to include those who think like me in the fun.  Journaling is part of my creativity, but it always felt restrictive and linear.  

• It felt like a school assignment.  
• One page at a time – in a linear fashion
• With time stamps and writing from left to write.  

Something I liked to do — writing — became a chore.  And since it didn’t pay the bills, I rarely did it.  But I continued to collect journals.  All sorts of beautiful journals.  Entire shelves of beautiful …empty journals.  

One day, I took off the restraints, sectioned off my journals, and began jumping around as the mood hit me. Creating sections of the journals to go with my every mood. I jumped until my heart was content.  Then two beautiful souls said “Moe, you should share with others” and the Jump Journal was born.  I am absolutely grateful for all those who enjoy any part of my creativity, and I look forward to sharing more with you as the Jump Journal grows.
